RESUMO

Os tratamentos através do uso da osseointegração possuem indicação e contraindicações específicas. Em alguns casos, as alterações ao redor dos alvéolos advindas de extrações dentárias modificam significativamente a espessura e a altura do rebordo, especialmente quando a perda do dente é decorrente de um trauma dentário, envolvimento periodontal ou a parede vestibular do rebordo é perdida durante a extração. Esses tipos de deficiências ósseas no rebordo podem dificultar ou impossibilitar o uso de certas técnicas de implantes dentários devido ao insuficiente volume ósseo para abrigar implantes de dimensões adequadas. A utilização de uma técnica incorreta pode acarretar um resultado protético inadequado, tanto pela forma estética quanto pela funcionalidade. Este estudo tem por objetivo revisar a literatura científica relacionada à técnica de expansão cirúrgica de rebordo alveolar, também conhecida como “Split Crest”, e demonstrar um caso clínico

ABSTRACT

Treatments through the use of osseointegration have specific indications and contraindications. In some cases, the changes around the alveoli arising from dental extractions significantly alter the thickness and height of the ridge, especially when tooth loss is a result of dental trauma, or periodontal involvement of the buccal wall edge is lost during extraction. These types of deficiencies in the bony ridge may hamper or prevent the use of certain techniques for dental implants due to insufficient bone volume to harbor implants of adequate dimensions. Using the wrong technique can lead to inadequate prosthetic result both in form and aesthetics for functionality.
