O mundo do trabalho em imagens: memória, história e fotografia / The working world in pictures: memory, history and photography

RESUMO

O uso da fotografia na pesquisa em trabalho e educação contribui para o alargamento da visão sobre o que denominamos o mundo do trabalho, o que entendemos como o trabalho livre e a identidade de classe dos trabalhadores, a formação profissional, o ambiente, as condições de vida, as relações de trabalho, as lutas de emancipação. O texto tem os seguintes objetivos: (i) a discussão do mundo do trabalho como um conjunto de processos sociais; (ii) a apresentação das memórias legadas pelas fotografias das três primeiras décadas do século passado (1900-1930), por meio das fotografias existentes em arquivos públicos e privados das cidades do Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo Campinas e Bologna (Itália). A reconstrução histórica da memória comparada nos acervos pesquisados contribui para a compreensão dos mundos do trabalho, constituídos por diferentes memórias e diferentes visões do trabalho e dos processos vivenciados pelos trabalhadores.

ABSTRACT

The use of photography in research on work and education contributes to the enlargement of insight into what we call the world of work, which we think of as the free labor and the class identity of workers, vocational training, environment, living conditions, labor relations, and the struggle for emancipation. The text has the following objectives: (i) the discussion of the working world as a set of social processes; (ii) the presentation of the memories bequeathed in photographs from the first three decades of the last century (1900-1930), through the photos preserved in public and private archives of the cities of Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo - Campinas, and Bologna (Italy). The historical reconstruction of memory, compared in the collections studied, contributes to the understanding of the worlds of work, consisting of different memories and different views of the work and the processes experienced by workers.
