Introdução:
A sexualidade é compreendida como o modo como cada pessoa vive a sua condição de homem ou mulher com relação às outras pessoas. Pode manifestar-se de forma diferente para cada momento existencial, em uma mesma pessoa, e de modos distintos para diferentes indivíduos. O trabalho objetivou descrever e analisar as atitudes e os comportamentos sexuais de universitários, moradores das casas de estudantes da UFSM, Santa Maria, RS, e comparou as características entre os sexos para melhor compreender como os jovens dessa população vivenciam sua vida reprodutiva e sexual.Métodos:
Estudo transversal, cujos dados foram obtidos através de um questionário com perguntas fechadas, aplicado aos estudantes de forma aleatória, após cálculo amostral.Resultados:
Responderam ao questionário 279 estudantes, 50,2% deles homens e 49,8% mulheres. Do total, 7,2% não haviam iniciado as relações sexuais. O percentual de alunos que namoravam foi de 60,9% entre as mulheres e de 42,4% entre os homens. Cerca de 80% das mulheres afirmaram fazer sexo com parceiro fixo, condição referida por 50,7% dos homens (p<0,001). Os homens referiram ter tido um número maior de parceiras sexuais nos últimos doze meses, quando comparados às mulheres. O nível de satisfação com a vida sexual foi maior entre as mulheres (p<0,001).Conclusões:
Verificou-se uma mudança no comportamento sexual das mulheres, pois, conforme este estudo, iniciaram a vida sexual quase na mesma idade do que os homens. Foi observado que ambos os sexos tiveram uma iniciação sexual mais tardia e que as mulheres estavam mais satisfeitas com sua vida sexualABSTRACT
Introduction:
Sexuality is understood as the way each person lives his/her status as a man/woman in relation to others. It may manifest itself differently for each existential moment, in one individual person, and in different ways for different individuals. This study aimed to describe and analyze the attitudes and sexual behaviors of college students living in the dormitories of the UFSM, Santa Maria, RS, and compared the characteristics between the sexes to better understand how young people experience their reproductive and sexual life.Methods:
Cross-sectional study with data obtained through a questionnaire with closed questions applied to students randomly, after sample calculation.Results:
279 students answered the questionnaire, 50.2% males and 49.8% females. Of the total, 7.2% had never engaged in sexual intercourse. The percentage of dating students was 60.9% among women and 42.4% among men. About 80% of women reported having sex with a steady partner, a situation reported by 50.7% of men (p <0.001).
