ABSTRACT

The effects of the active principle from alivary glands - Parotin - on the glucose uptake by epididymal fat tissues of normal and diabetic rats were studied i vitro. Two groups of animals were tested group I control group (30 animals) and group II experimental diabetic group (30 animals). Epididymal fat tissues were removed, incubated in Warburg flasks in presence of glucose, insulin, parotin and insulin + parotin. The results showed that the Parotin was more effective than insulin in the control and diabetic groups. Insulin + parotin, in both treatments, had no synergic effect
