Síndrome do túnel do carpo em cirurgiões-dentistas / Carpal tunnel syndrome in dentists

RESUMO

A Síndrome do Túnel do Carpo é uma patologia neuro-compressiva, que acomete os cirurgiões-dentistas em face de sua vulnerabilidade, como distúrbio ocupacional. Essa síndrome tem aumentado nos últimos anos, em função das condições de trabalho existentes, flexão e extensão do punho repetidamente e de forma contínua, principalmente se associada à força e a movimentos vibratórios. Em consequência disso, objetivou-se revisar a literatura sobre o tema com um enfoque clínico, buscando determinar os principais aspectos etiológicos bem como suas principais características clínicas e métodos de prevenção.

ABSTRACT

The Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a neuro-compressive pathology that affects the dentists because of their vulnerability, such as occupational disorder. This syndrome has increased over recent years because of working conditions that exist, flexion and extension of the wrist repeatedly and continuously, especially if associated with the strength and vibratory movements. The objective was to review the literature on the theme with a clinical focus seeking to determine the main aetiologicals aspects, as well as its clinical characteristics and methods of prevention.
