Análisis métrico de la producción científica de la revista Panorama Cuba y Salud en el período 2006-2011 / Metric analysis of scientific production in the journal Overview of Cuban Health Care Panorama Cuba y Salud, 2006-2011

RESUMEN

Objetivo: caracterizar el contenido de la revista Panorama Cuba y Salud y la producción científica de los autores. Métodos: se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal de la revista Panorama Cuba y Salud, desde junio de 2006 hasta diciembre de 2011. La muestra estuvo constituida por 95 artículos científicos y 1 973 referencias bibliográficas. Se analizaron los artículos por año, el promedio de bibliografías por artículo, la tipología documental de las citas, la distribución idiomática, la actualidad de la bibliografía según índice de Price, las temáticas de investigación y el tipo de estudio, la productividad de los autores, el número de firmas, el índice de colaboración, la filiación del autor, el género y las categorías académica y científica. Resultados: el mayor número de trabajos correspondió a los años 2009 y 2010 con 20 cada uno. El promedio de referencias por artículos fue de 20,8. Según la tipología documental de las fuentes predominaron las revistas impresas (59,4 por ciento) seguidas por los libros (16,6 por ciento). Predominaron los artículos originales 64 (67,4por ciento) con estudios de tipo descriptivo. La mayoría de los autores (87,5 por ciento) clasificaron como transeúntes; 13 investigadores, quienes generaron 190 firmas, fueron responsables del 48,4 por ciento de los trabajos publicados en el período. Conclusiones: en la revista Panorama Cuba y Salud se encontraron indicadores bibliométricos comparables a los de otras revistas del sistema de salud cubano y extranjeras..,

ABSTRACT

Objective: Characterize the content of the journal Panorama Cuba y Salud and the scientific production of its authors. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted of the journal "Panorama Cuba y Salud" from June 2006 to December 2011. The sample consisted of 95 scientific papers and 1 973 bibliographic references. The variables analyzed were papers per year, average number of references per paper, document typology of citations, distribution by language, currency of the bibliography according to Price's index, research topic and type of study, productivity of authors, number of signatures, rate of collaboration, affiliation of authors, gender, and academic and scientific category. Results: The largest number of papers corresponded to the years 2009 and 2010, with 20 each. Average number of references per paper was 20.8. According to the document typology of sources, printed journals predominated (59.4 percent), followed by books (16.6 percent). Original papers about descriptive studies were predominant with 64 (67.4 percent). Most authors (87.5 percent) were classed as transient. Thirteen researchers, who generated 190 signatures, were in charge of 48.4percent of the papers published in the period. Conclusions: The bibliometric indicators in the journal Panorama Cuba y Salud are comparable to those in other Cuban and foreign health journals. It is necessary to maintain a balance between the document typology of the sources consulted by authors and their quality according to the topic profile of the journal. It is also important to increase the number of original papers about analytical and interventionist studies, and maintain a reasonable balance between national and foreign authors, to broaden the geographic coverage of the journal so that it becomes a permanent forum for the discussion of research results:
