Papel del PET-CT en el seguimiento del cáncer de ovario / Rol of the PET-CT in the following of ovarian cancer

RESUMEN

El cáncer de ovario es la sexta causa más común de neoplasia y la quinta de muerte en mujeres, siendo el tipo histológico seroso más frecuente. En febrero de 2011 llega a nuestro servicio una paciente femenina de 52 años con diagnóstico de cáncer de ovario estadio IV con metástasis pleural, a la cual le habían realizado tratamiento quirúrgico, radioterapia externa y braquiterapia. Durante el seguimiento presentó elevación del Ca 125, recaída en cúpula vaginal y en estudio tomográfico se evidenció lesión supra-diafragmática izquierda por lo cual se le realiza PET-CT con 18F-FDG que mostró incremento de la captación a este nivel más presencia de enfermedad en ganglio retro-carinal. Posteriormente se reseca tumor supra-diafragmático izquierdo y le realizan 6 ciclos de quimioterapia. Le indican nuevo estudio PET-CT en marzo de 2012 para evaluar respuesta al tratamiento, el cual arrojó como resultado respuesta metabólica completa, estudio sin evidencia de enfermedad conocida

ABSTRACT

The ovarian cancer is the sixth cause most common neoplastic and the fifth cause of death in women, being the histopathological serous type is the most frequent. In February 2011 is referred to our center a female patient of 52 years old with a diagnosis of ovarian cancer classified how state IV, with metastasis in the pleura. She went through underwent surgery, external radiation therapy treatment and completed with posterior brachytherapy. The patient presented elevation of CA125 marked and the tomography study showed a left supra-diaphragmatic lesion,which why a PET-CT was made for her and showing an increased uptake of the 18F-FDG at this level, plus disease in retro-carinal lymph node. Later on tumor was resects and six cycles of chemotherapy were done. In March of2012 a new PET/CT was made to assess response to the treatment and demonstrating complete metabolic response,study without evidence of known disease
