Estudio epidemiológico de pacientes con diagnóstico de endometriosis en el Departamento de Ginecología del Hospital Nacional Docente Madre-Niño San Bartolomé en el período de Enero a Diciembre del 2011 / Epidemiological study of patients with diagnosis of endometriosis in the Department of Gynecology at the National Hospital Docente Madre Niño San Bartolome in the period from January to December 2011

RESUMEN

OBJETIVOS: Determinar las características epidemiológicas de las pacientes con el diagnóstico de endometriosis atendidas en el departamento de ginecología del Hospital Nacional Docente Madre-Niño San Bartolomé en el periodo de Enero a Diciembre del 2011. METODOLOGÍA: El tipo de investigación es observacional descriptivo de corte transversal y retrospectivo. Se evaluaron a 103 pacientes del servicio de ginecología que se atendieron en el HONADOMANI desde Enero a Diciembre del 2011. Se aplicó los cálculos univariados para variables cualitativas de frecuencia absoluta y relativa. Para las variables cuantitativas se determinó medidas de tendencia central (mediana) y medidas de dispersión (desviación estándar). Se elaboraron gráficos en Excel utilizando diagrama de barras y/o diagrama circular, diagrama de cajas. Se aplicó la prueba estadística chi-cuadrado, con un nivel de significancia del 5 por ciento. El análisis se realizó con el programa estadístico SPSS versión 18.0. RESULTADOS: La edad que tuvo mayor predominio fue la que estuvo comprendida entre los rangos de 31-40 años (55.3 por ciento), seguido del rango entre 21-30 años, siendo el promedio de la edad de 34.6±7.2 con una mínima de16 y una máxima de 58. El 57.3 por ciento de las pacientes tuvo un grado de instrucción superior y el 39.8 por ciento nivel secundaria. El promedio total de gestaciones de las pacientes fue de 1.4±1.5, la media de número de partos fue de 0.9±1.1, el promedio de número de abortos fue de 0.5. El promedio de la edad de la menarquía (primera menstruación) fue de 11.9±1.7. El 49.5 por ciento de las pacientes refirió presentar infertilidad, el 24.5 por ciento presentó una masa anexial, el 31.1 por ciento describió que presentó dolor pélvico y del total de pacientes sólo el 14.6 por ciento fue gestante (15). ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES: To determine the epidemiological characteristics of patients with the diagnosis of endometriosis treated at the department of gynecology at National Teaching Hospital Mother-Child San Bartolome in the period from January to December 2011. METHODOLOGY: The research is observational, descriptive of cross-sectional and retrospective. We evaluated 103 patients of gynecology department who attended in the HONADOMANI from January to December 2011. Univariate calculations were applied for qualitative variables absolute and relative frequency. For quantitative variables were determined measures of central tendency (median) and measures of dispersion (standard deviation). Graphics were developed using Excel with bar chart and/or pie chart, box plot. We applied the chi-square statistical test, with a significance level of 5 per cent. The analysis was performed using SPSS version 18.0. RESULTS: The age that had higher prevalence was between the ranges of 31-40 years (55.3 per cent), followed by the range between 21-30 years, with an average age of 34.6±7.2 with a minimum 16-and a maximum of 58. The 57.3 per cent of patients had a higher education level and 39.8 per cent secondary level. The average total pregnancy of patients was 1.4±1.5, mean parity was 0.9±1.1, and the average number of abortions was 0.5. The average age of menarche (first menstruation) was 11.9±1.7. The 49.5 per cent of patients referred for infertility, 24.5 per cent had an adnexal mass, and 31.1 per cent reported that presented pelvic pain and of total of patients only 14.6 per cent were pregnant (15).
