ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to evaluate the photographs of the sample and to compare with pattern values found in the literature; to evaluate the correlation between esthetic perception and facial harmony by Orthodontics 'professionals and pattern values found in the literature. The study was realized using a profile and frontal facial photography from 60 Brazilian individuals from Criciúmal/SC, masculine gender, from 18 and 19 years old. The profile photos were traced by measures and proportions recognized by the literature, referring to facial convexity; mentis-labial height; proportion between superior and inferior lips; nasal-labial sulcus, nasal length and the relationship with the divine proportion. Realized one questionnaire for 25 orthodontists, randomized, subjecting opining about esthetic perception and facial harmony individuais. Each one was evaluated using two facial photos, from frontal and profile, receiving attractiveness and not attractiveness vote. The records were analyzed by the "t" Student test and C contingence coefficient, preceded by qui square testo The profiles presented to the following characteristics 60% of individuais presented more convex profile than pattern; 90% of individuais presented increase facial height to pattern value; 30% of individuais presented increased nasal-labial angle; the nasal-labial sulcus showed inside the limits ofthe pattern deviation in 100% of individuals and the nasal length revealed short value than pattern deviation in 50% of individuals significance statistically (p< 0,05). The most beautiful faces revealed a relationship of 9% between their proportions and the divine proportion pattern. Therefore, the orthodontist esthetic preference not presented significant agreement, revealed that doesn 't exist a relationship between esthetic perception by Ortodontics professionals and pattern values found in the literature.
