RESUMO
A comunicação proxêmica entre estudantes de graduação em enfermagem e recém-nascidos (RN) é essencial para uma assistência de enfermagem efetiva entre o binômio. Objetivou caracterizar a comunicação proxêmica entre estudantes de graduação em enfermagem e RN. Estudo exploratório-descritivo, desenvolvido na unidade de cuidados intermediários neonatal (UCIN) de um hospital público de Fortaleza-CE, de novembro/2009 a maio/2010. Os sujeitos foram 22 RN e 22 estudantes. Descreveram-se dois ângulos de interação entre estudantes e RN frente a frente (12), lateral (10). Os estudantes adotaram distância pessoal (12), social (8), íntima (2). Mostraram face de tranquilidade (15), sorriso (4), tranquilidade e sorriso (2), indiferente (1). Enquanto os RN, face de tranquilidade (13), choro (7), indiferente (2). Vinte e um estudantes olharam para os RN, seis falaram baixo, 11 normal, 5 permaneceram em silêncio. Os fatores proxêmicos permitem avaliar a comunicação na UCIN, melhorando a assistência dos estudantes aos RN...
ABSTRACT
Proxemic communication between undergraduate nursing students and newborns is essential for effective nurse assistance between the binomial. It aimed to characterize the proxemic communication between undergraduate nursing students and newborns. Exploratory-descriptive study carried out at the neonatal medium care unit (NMCU) of a public hospital of Fortaleza-Ceará-Brazil, from November/2009 to May/2010. The subjects were 22 students and 22 newborns. Two ways of interaction between students and newborns were described face to face (12), sideways (10). Students adopted personal (12), social (8), intimate (2) distance. Students showed expression of tranquility (15), smile (4), tranquility and smile (2), indifference (1). While the newborns presented expression of tranquility (13), cry (7), indifference (2). Twenty-one students looked at the newborns, six spoke quietly, eleven normally, five remained in silence. The proxemic factors allow assessing the communication in NMCU, improving the students' assistance to newborns...
