RESUMEN
INTRODUCCIÓN:
garantizar la salud y calidad de vida es una dirección priorizada del trabajo médico preventivo, lo cual estimula investigaciones cualitativas como instrumento metodológico para abordar categorías centrales del proceso salud-enfermedad desde una perspectiva psicosocial.OBJETIVO:
determinar cómo se comporta la percepción de la calidad de vida en relación a la salud en una población de estudiantes.MÉTODOS:
estudio observacional, descriptivo de corte transversal. Se aplicó un cuestionario a 143 estudiantes, seleccionados mediante el método aleatorio estratificado, divididos en tres estratos.RESULTADOS:
el 32,9 % de los entrevistados consideró que tiene una calidad de vida menos favorable de forma general. El índice de calidad de salud fue menos favorable en el sexo femenino. El 81 % de los jóvenes planteó que su salud es satisfactoria. Las personas sobrepeso se vieron cuatro veces más afectadas en su calidad de vida que las normopeso.CONCLUSIONES:
el determinante de salud que más afecta a los estudiantes entrevistados es la biología humana, lo que hace reflexionar acerca del trabajo de los servicios de salud y las grandes posibilidades de intervención que se presentan. .ABSTRACT

ensuring health and quality of life is a prioritized direction of preventive medical work, which encourages qualitative research as a methodological tool for addressing core categories of health-disease process from a psychosocial perspective.OBJECTIVE:
to determine how the perception of quality of life in relation to health in a student population behaves.METHODS:
an observational, cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted. A questionnaire was applied to 143 students, selected through stratified random method, divided into three strata.RESULTS:
32.9 % of respondents considered to have less favorable quality of life generally. The health quality index was less favorable in women; 81 % of young people stated that their health is satisfactory. Overweight people were four times more affected in their quality of life than normal weight.CONCLUSIONS:
the health determinant that affects the students interviewed is human biology, what makes us think about the work of health services and the great possibilities of intervention present here. .
