ABSTRACT
Several studies about obesity have highlighted the mechanisms that involve hormones located at adipocytes and gastrointestinal system for the appetite control as well as the relationship of these hormones with the practice of exercise or/and physical training. This review will update the information about the effect of appetite regulators describing their relationship with different types of exercise and/or physical training. Leptin seems to modulate long-term appetite and to be responsive to prolonged physical exercise more than adiponectin. There are a few studies investigating the effects of exercise and/or physical training on ghrelin and PYY.3-36 levels. Hormones from the adipose and gastrointestinal tissues promote a number of regulatory mechanisms on the appetite, whereas more studies about the relationship between hormones and physical exercise need to be performed.
