RESUMO

Introdução: Esta pesquisa volta-se ao estudo das condições linguístico-cognitivas de crianças usuárias de Comunicação Suplementar e/ou Alternativa (CSA), a partir da Classificação Internacional de Funcionalidade, Incapacidade e Saúde (CIF) da Organização Mundial de Saúde (OMS). O objetivo é a investigação de questões de linguagem, participação e desempenho/funcionalidade de crianças usuárias de CSA nas atividades linguístico-cognitivas por meio dos componentes da CIF. Material e método: Trata-se de estudo longitudinal aprovado pelo CEP sob nº 728/2008, com três crianças não oralizadas, usuárias de CSA, em acompanhamento fonoaudiológico no CEPRE/FCM/UNICAMP. A coleta envolveu duas fontes análise dos prontuários para caracterização dos perfis das crianças e registros em vídeo do acompanhamento fonoaudiológico, ambas utilizadas para classificação do desempenho linguístico-cognitivo segundo a CIF. Foram utilizados qualificadores da CIF apropriados para crianças e jovens, expressos numericamente. Resultados: Todos os sujeitos apresentaram mudanças nas condições linguístico-cognitivas, participação e desempenho/funcionalidade. Ao longo do tempo, verificou-se diminuição no grau de severidade ou na barreira que os problemas representavam para essas crianças.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: This research analyses cognitive-linguistic conditions of children using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) using the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) of the World Health Organization (WHO). The objective is the investigation of language issues, participation and performance/functionality of children using AAC in cognitive-linguistic activities by means of components of the ICF. Material and method: This is a longitudinal study approved by the Research Ethics Committee, under n. 728/2008, comprising three not oralized children using AAC, under Speech and Language Pathology (SLP) follow-up in the Center for Studies and Research on Rehabilitation/Faculty of Medical Sciences/University of Campinas (CEPRE/FCM/UNICAMP). The collection involved two sources analysis of the records for characterization of profiles of the children and video records of SLP sessions; both of them used for classification of cognitive-linguistic performance according to the ICF. Adequate ICF qualifiers, expressed numerically, were used for children. Results: All subjects presented changes in cognitive-linguistic conditions, participation and performance/functionality. It was verified over time a decrease in the severity degree or in the barrier that the problems represented for the children. Conclusion: The use of the ICF allowed analysis of performance/functionality particularities and children participation in different times, situations and contexts, showing that the functionality of an individual in a specific is resulting from the interaction between health condition and contextualfactors.
