RESUMO

O artigo analisa o filme A Onda dos Sonhos 2 (Blue Crush 2, dir. Mike Elliott, EUA/África do Sul/Alemanha, 2011). A partir do modelo desenvolvido por Melo (2009), estabelece um diálogo com o contexto em que a obra foi produzida e no qual a trama se passa, além de abordar aspectos de conteúdo e forma. A primeira parte explora a relação do filme com a subcultura do surfe, destacando dois aspectos: a participação das mulheres e a economia do esporte. A segunda parte situa Onda 2 no contexto histórico, discutindo o papel da África do Sul como lugar de locação e no qual se passa a trama; e relacionando-o à filmografia sobre a modalidade.

ABSTRACT

The article analyzes the film Blue Crush 2 (dir. Mike Elliott, USA/South Africa/Germany, 2011). From the model developed by Melo (2009), it establishes adialogue with the context in which the film was produced and in which the plotrevolves, and analyzes aspects of its content and form. The first part explores therelationship between film and surf subculture, with emphasis on two aspects: the femalerole and the surf economy. The second part puts the film in historical context, debatingthe role of South Africa as the place of location and in which the plot develops; andrelating it to the surf filmography.
