Factores asociados a la percepción de dolor lumbar en trabajadores de una empresa de transporte terrestre / Factors associated with the perception of low back pain in workers of a ground transportation company

RESUMEN

Objetivo: Identificar los factores asociados a la percepción de dolor lumbar en trabajadores de una empresa de transporte terrestre. Materiales y métodos: Estudio descriptivo transversal en 140 trabajadores que laboran en las áreas administrativas y operaria de una empresa de transporte terrestre. Se les aplicó el Cuestionario Nórdico de Kuorinka, una encuesta para indagar variables sociodemográficas y laborales y se midió el peso usando una balanza Tanita, y la talla, mediante un tallímetro. Se usó el programa estadístico SPSS versión 17 para estimar la asociación entre la percepción de molestias lumbares y el sexo, el índice de masa corporal (IMC) y el área de trabajo por medio del odds ratio (OR). Resultados: El 82,9 % son hombres, con una media de edad de 34,9 años ± 9,4 años. El 55,0 % percibe molestias en la región lumbar y el 31,4 % en los hombros. Tienen más riesgo de percibir molestias en la región lumbar los hombres [OR 3,70 (IC 95 %: 1,31-10,7)], los empleados con un IMC mayor de 25 [OR 2,3 (IC 95 %: 1,03-5,2)], los que laboran como operarios [OR 2,6 (IC 95 %: 1,2-5,7)] y los que tienen más de 6 años de laborar en la empresa [OR 2,24 (IC 95 %: 1,07-4,7)]. Conclusión: Ser hombre con un IMC mayor de 25 y trabajar como operario son factores que influyen en la percepción de síntomas y molestias a nivel de la región lumbar.

ABSTRACT

Objective: Identify the factors related to the perception of low back pain in workers of a trucking company. Materials and methods: Cross sectional study on 140 employees working in administrative areas and operate a trucking company. We applied the Nordic Questionnaire Kuorinka, a survey to investigate sociodemographic and occupational, and weight was measured using a Tanita scale and height by a stadiometer. We used SPSS version 17 to estimate the association between the perception of lower back pain and sex, body mass index (BMI) and the work area through the odds ratio (OR). Results: 82, 9 % were men, with a mean age of 34, 9 years ± 9,4 years. 55, 0 % perceived discomfort in the lumbar region and 31, 4 % in the shoulders. Are more likely to feel discomfort in the lower back, men [OR 3,70 (95 % CI 1,31 to 10,7)], employees with a BMI greater than 25 [OR 2,3 (95 %: 1,03 to 5,2)], those who work as operators [OR 2,6 (95 % CI 1,2 to 5,7)] and those with more than 6 years of work in the company [OR 2,24 (95 % CI 1,07 to 4,7)]. Conclusión: Being a man with a BMI over 25 and working as a laborer are factors that influence the perception of symptoms and discomfort at the lumbar region.
