ABSTRACT
The health-related physical fitness components has close relation with capacity to execute daily tasks of the routine life and illness prevention. To analyse the health-related physical fitness of people aged 50 and over, engaged with physical activity and compare the results with normative values. 250 men and 754 women of 50-86 years of age were evaluated. The tests and measures used are BMI, waist-hip circumference; 6 minutes walk test; 30-second chair stand test; 30-second arm curl test and sitand-reach test. The data were analysed by descriptive statistics and after compared with normative values. About BMI the big part of the subjects was classified that overweight, but the body fat distribution, by the waist-hip circumference was better to men than women. The results of motor tests, in the overview were similar or better than normative values used as reference. The use of normative values allows verify what is expected to subject in determined age and what components of physical fitness can be improved. However, several tests don´t offer scores that cover all the ages and the different methods used make difficult the comparisons.
