ABSTRACT
In order to check the readiness for regular physical activity (RPA) for students participants in a recreational soccer competition, 719 students were evaluated, mean age 21,24 ± 2,27 years, through PAR--Q. Of these, 603 subjects were male, mean age 21,25 ± 2,36 years (17-36 years), and 116 were women, mean age 21,23 ± 1,77 years (17--26 years). As used for statistical analysis was descriptive data, prevalence ratio (RP) of affirmative responses to the PAR-Q and odds radio (OR) between genders. Among the subjects, 40 had unwillingness to RPA, representing a relative value to 5,56%, which can be regarded as satisfactory in view of the age group population and the stratum evaluated. Of these, 39 (5,42%) had a positive answer and 1 (0,14%) two positive responses. No case of three positive answers was found in this study. The OR indicated that women have odds 5,43 (CI-2,68 to 10,98; p=0,02) for more than unwillingness to submit RPA,in relation to men as well as a higher prevalence. Despite the relatively low percentage corresponding to the population with lack of readiness for the RPA, requiresattention, since the physical stimulus applied in these individuals with lack of readiness, combined with other factors, can trigger physical boundary conditions with organic result in health condition thereof. Thus, is recommend planning and the establishment of a preventive policy to used in tournaments, minimizing the risk of cardiovascular events induced by physical exertion due to competitive sports.
