RESUMEN
El trabajo actual presenta un estudio descriptivo, prospectivo y analítico, realizado durante la gestión 2008 en el Hospital Clínico Viedma (H.C.V.), que tiene como objetivo principal conocer el manejo clínico-quirúrgico de los pacientes con Tórax Inestable que ingresaron al hospital durante la mencionada gestión. El universo comprende todos los pacientes que ingresaron al H.C.V. con diagnóstico de Tórax Inestable entre enero y diciembre de 2008, y la muestra se conforma de quince pacientes. La recolección de datos se realizó de los libros de registro de la sala de emergencias y de pacientes quirúrgicos, la revisión de las historias clínicas y el seguimiento a los pacientes egresados de la institución. Se obtuvieron un total de 15 pacientes con el Diagnóstico de Tórax Inestable, todos de sexo masculino y en edad productiva con una media de 45 años. 80% de los pacientes son resultado de accidente de tránsito. La mortalidad global de la serie fue de 33%, el 20% relacionado a complicaciones por la misma patología, el 13% fue manejado en la sala de UTI, el 7% falleció en emergencias. Se observó el ingreso de pacientes hemodinámicamente estables en el 73% de los casos, el 23% restante ingresaron inestables.
ABSTRACT
This paper presents a descriptive, prospective, analytical, management conducted during 2008 in the Viedma Hospital, whose main objective is to know the clinical and surgical management of patients with Flail Chest, entered the hospital during such management. The universe includes all patients admitted to the HCV diagnosed with flail chest between January and December 2008, the sample is represented by fifteen patients treated in the HCV with the diagnosis of flail chest. Through data collection logbooks of emergency room and surgical patients, review of relevant medical records and follow up patients discharged from the institution, obtained a total of 15 patients in the HCV with the diagnosis of flail chest, all male and of working age with a mean of 45 years, 80% result of traffic accident. The overall mortality of the series was 33%, 20% linked to complications for the same condition, 13% was managed in the ICU room, 7% died in emergencies. In 73% of cases they were hemodynamically stable patients, the remaining 23% entered unstable.
