RESUMEN
Objetivo. determinar las características clínicas y laboratoriales de la coinfección del Síndrome de Inmunodeficiencia Adquirida y criptococosis meníngea en pacientes internados en el Hospital Clínico Viedma de la ciudad de Cochabamba, Bolivia durante el periodo septiembre de 2005 a julio 2014. Métodos: se realizó un estudio retrospectivo descriptivo de pacientes hospitalizados con VIH-SIDA en el Hospital Clínico Viedma que cursaron con infección criptococócica en el periodo comprendido entre 2 005 a 2 014. El enfoque para el análisis del estudio fue de tipo cuantitativo. Resultados: el 83% de los pacientes con criptococosis meníngea cursaron con una in-munosupresión severa, con un recuento de CD4 inferior a 100 mm³. La alteración de conciencia se presentó en el 50% de los pacientes, cefalea en 23%, signos meníngeos en el 20%. En el examen cito químico de líquido cefalorraquídeo destaca la escasa celularidad con solo 40% del total.
ABSTRACT
Abstract Objective. determine the Clinical and Laboratory Correlation co-infected patients Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome and crypto-coccal meningitis in patients admitted to the Hospital Viedma in Cochabamba, Bolivia during the period September 2 005 to July 2 014. Material and methods: a retrospective descriptive study of patients hospitalized with HIV-AIDS in the Hospital Viedma who studied with cryptococcal infection in the period between 2005 to 2014 approach to the analysis of the study was quantitative was performed. Results: 83% of patients with cryptococcal meningitis were enrolled with severe immunosuppression with CD4 counts below 100 mm³.
