RESUMEN

A pesar del desarrollo alcanzado en cuanto a la práctica de la ética médica durante la segunda mitad del pasado siglo en diferentes latitudes, queda mucho por hacer en relación con el paciente portador de un trastorno psiquiátrico. Independientemente de que se han creado mejores condiciones para la atención al enfermo mental, y de que en muchos países se ha humanizado el sistema de hospitalización, se hace obligatoria la revisión de situaciones de urgencia psiquiátrica tales como el ingreso, traslado y tratamiento involuntarios, así como la utilización del consentimiento informado en estas y otras situaciones. El presente artículo revisa estos temas, haciendo hincapié en la práctica de la Psiquiatría en Cuba actualmente, y refiriéndose al Proyecto de Ley de Salud Mental cubano, con sus conceptos de trastorno mental severo y peligrosidad.

ABSTRACT

In spite of the development, in different latitudes, of the practice of medical ethics during the second half of the last century, there is still a lot to do in relation to the patient that suffers from a psychiatric dysfunction. Regardless of the fact that better conditions have been created for the attention of psychiatric patients, and that in many countries, the admission system of hospitals has been humanized, it becomes mandatory the revision of situations of psychiatric urgency such as patients ' admission, transfer and poor compliance, as well as the use of the informed consent in these and other situations. The present article revises these topics, making stress in the practice of Psychiatry in Cuba nowadays, and referring to the Cuban Bill of Mental Health, with its concepts of severe mental dysfunction and dangerousness.
