La universidad y su misión desarrolladora como respuesta a problemas sociales desde la asignatura Microbiología y Parasitología Médica / The University and its developing mission to give response to social problems taking the subject of Microbiology and Medical Parasitology as a starting point

RESUMEN

En el presente trabajo se realiza una valoración de los componentes académico e investigativo en el programa de la asignatura Microbiología y Parasitología que se imparte al 2do año de la carrera de Medicina y de su implementación práctica en la formación del profesional de la medicina que necesita la sociedad, según la misión de la universidad. Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica sobre el tema según las diferentes perspectivas del diseño curricular y una revisión documental de programas de formación médica en los que se imparte esta asignatura y de los documentos normativos elaborados para el proceso enseñanza aprendizaje. Se identificaron las características interesantes en la concepción e implementación del programa. La disciplina presenta un balance pertinente de los componentes académico, laboral e investigativo en la selección y estructuración de sus contenidos, así como en la selección de los métodos y formas de organización de la enseñanza previstas en el programa, por lo que se considera está acorde a la enseñanza de las ciencias básicas biomédicas y en correspondencia con las tendencias, enfoques actuales del diseño curricular en la educación superior.

ABSTRACT

This research paper was carried out to assess the academic and investigative components of the syllabus of Microbiology and Parasitology subject which is taught in the 2nd academic year of Medical Studies in conjunction with its practical implementation to the training of the medical professional that society needs; which must be in accordance with the mission of the University. A bibliographic review concerning the topics of the different perspectives of the curricular design was conducted; as well as a documentary revision of the medical training syllabuses where this subject is taught considering a set of regulations created to the teaching-learning process. Interesting characteristics to the conception and implementation of the syllabus were identified. The subject presents a pertinent balance of the academic, working along with investigative components to choose and to structure its contents as in the selection of the methods and ways of organization of the teaching-learning process foreseen in the syllabus. Taking into account all these characteristics, the programme of study, is appropriate to the teaching of biomedical basic sciences, in accordance with the trends and current approaches of the curricular design in higher education.
