Caracterización del desarrollo del pretérmino en el primer año de vida / Characterization of the preterm-development in the first period of life

RESUMEN

Se realizó una investigación epidemiológica aplicada, descriptiva, analítica, longitudinal y ambispectiva del recién nacido pretérmino con peso inferior a los 2500 g al nacer, sobre el desarrollo pondoestatural de éste, en su primer año de vida, en el Policlínico Universitario "Turcios Lima" del municipio Pinar del Río, en los años de 2002-2007. El universo y muestra estuvo conformado por 90 niños nacidos con peso menor de 2500 gramos, tiempo gestacional antes de las 37 semanas y un grupo control, seleccionado por cada uno de los anteriores, nacido al término del embarazo y con peso igual o superior a los 2 500g, tomados en el orden consecutivo al pretérmino. Se utilizaron métodos empíricos y teóricos de investigación científica. Se comprobó una elevada frecuencia de partos pretérminos bajo peso en los adolescentes y una adecuada recuperación nutricional de los niños en el primer año de vida, aunque se detectaron algunas dificultades en la alimentación y manejo correcto de estos infantes.

ABSTRACT

An applied-epidemiological, descriptive, analytical, longitudinal, retrospective and prospective research in preterm newborn infants having an inferior weight of 2500g was conducted taking into account the ponderous-height of these infants in the first period of life at "Turcios Lima" University Outpatient Clinic in Pinar del Rio municipality during 2002-2007. The target group and the sample consisted of 90 infants weighting less than 2500g at birth, gestation age before 37 weeks and a control group that was chosen by each one of the previous group of those born at term having the same weight at birth or superior than 2500g, taken in a consecutive order of the preterm infants. Empirical and theoretical methods of scientific investigation were used; finding a high frequency of preterm deliveries in adolescents and an adequate nutritional recovery of infants in the first period of life (a year), even though some difficulties in the feeding and management of these infants were observed.
