O texto discorre sobre a concessão de guarda judicial de netos e seu impacto no ciclo vital do idoso, questionando sobre este tema de pesquisa ainda pouco explorado. As razões pelas quais os avós têm assumido a guarda de crianças serão discutidas e buscamos compreender a organização e dinâmica das famílias que assumem esse tipo de configuração. O enfoque teórico é a Teoria Sistêmica e a dimensão transgeracional da família. Partimos de uma perspectiva de que a relação entre avós e netos tende a ser positiva para todos. ABSTRACT

The paper focuses on granting legal custody of grandchildren and their impact on the life cycle of the elderly, questioning on the topic of research yet unexplored. We discuss the reasons why grandparents have assumed custody of children, and seek to understand the organization and dynamics of families who take this type of configuration. The theoretical approach is Systems Theory and the size of the intergenerational family.
