RESUMEN
Enfermería se ha desarrollado como ciencia y profesión desde mediados del siglo XIX, muchos son los aportes que ha brindado junto con otras ciencias para la atención a la salud y la enfermedad mental, se ha desarrollado como una especialidad en el mundo la Enfermería Psiquiátrica, en cambio en Cuba aún no existe gran desarrollo y por este motivo se propone analizar la pertinencia del diseño por competencias del diplomado de Salud Mental y Enfermería como figura de posgrado para los enfermeros que trabajan en estos servicios. La investigación se estructuró en tres etapas. Una primera donde se identificaron las necesidades de formación especializada; en la segunda, se diseñó el Diplomado de Salud Mental y Enfermería con el equipo de investigación a través de trabajos grupales se validó en varias rondas por criterios de expertos y en la tercera se implementó con un grupo de 20 licenciados de enfermería, los resultados a corto plazo fueron valorados de muy satisfactorios. Otros resultados fueron que fue elaborado teniendo en cuenta el perfil del egresado, la malla curricular se concreta en una estructuración de 8 cursos que permite impartirlos de manera independiente, con su sistema de objetivos, contenidos, competencias adquiridas y relacionadas, habilidades, funciones y su sistema de evaluación. Existe alta correspondencia entre los contenidos de este diseño y otros revisados internacionalmente. Se concluye que el diseño por competencias del Diplomado de Salud Mental y Enfermería es pertinente lo que se comprobó en una edición para 20 profesionales de Enfermería.
ABSTRACT
Nursing has developed as a science and profession since the middle of the 20th and has contributed in a significant way to the health care and to mental disease management together with other sciences. Psychiatric nursing has also developed as a specialty worldwide but such a great development has not been reached in Cuba yet, so the objective of this paper was to analyze the appropriateness of the competence-based design of the mental health and nursing diploma's courses as part of the graduate program aimed at nurses working in this type of service. The research had three stages. The first stage identified the specialized formation requirements of the participants; the second one designed the mental health and nursing diploma's course with the support of a research team through group work to validate several rounds based on the expert criteria, and the third one witnessed the holding of the course with 20 Bachelors of Nursing and its results were rated as highly satisfactory. The course was prepared taking the profiles of the graduates into account. The curriculum was structured in 8 courses that may be given separately, with their own system of objectives, contents, acquired and related competencies, function and their evaluation system. The contents of this design and those of other international courses were very similar. It is concluded that competence-based design of the mental health and diploma's course is appropriate according to the first course for 20 nursing professionals.
