Desenvolvimento e validação de um instrumento para avaliar o amor patológico / Development and validation of an instrument to evaluate pathological love

RESUMO

O relacionamento amoroso tem sido estudado pela psicologia e, para tanto, diversos questionários que analisam atitudes e qualidade do relacionamento são utilizados. O amor patológico (AP) é o comportamento repetitivo e sem controle de prestar cuidados ao parceiro, em um relacionamento amoroso. Estudos anteriores mostraram que indivíduos com AP se diferenciam de saudáveis por apresentarem impulsividade e autotranscendência elevados, relacionamento amoroso insatisfatório e compulsivo, predominância dos estilos de amor ágape e mania e tipo de apego ansioso/ambivalente. Como não existem instrumentos que mensurem especificamente este tipo de comportamento, objetivamos nesta tese desenvolver uma escala para avaliação do AP, bem como analisar as suas propriedades psicométricas. O presente estudo caso-controle foi realizado em duas partes. Na 1ª parte, foram comparados os resultados obtidos por 154 indivíduos (79 com AP e 75 saudáveis) em relação às características mencionadas, por meio da aplicação de 137 itens de questionários existentes na literatura que medem estas características isoladamente. A análise fatorial exploratória permitiu a redução dos 67 itens originais que diferenciaram as amostras para 26 itens e a estrutura fatorial primária foi composta por 5 fatores: Controle (13 itens), Insatisfação (4 itens), Impulsividade (2 itens), Abnegação (4 itens) e Idealização (3 itens). Estes itens exibiram boa consistência interna (alfa=.74; IC=.72-.76; p =<. 001), alguns foram adaptados, 4 novos foram criados e assim foi desenvolvido o modelo piloto da Escala do Amor (EA), composto por 30 itens. Na 2ª parte do estudo, 320 indivíduos (20 com AP, 28 sem AP e 272 com status desconhecido para AP) preencheram essa escala piloto e a análise fatorial foi refeita, resultando no modelo final da EA, composto por 22 itens distribuídos em 4 fatores: Controle (10 itens), Insatisfação (5 itens), Abnegação (5 itens) e Idealização (2 itens)...

ABSTRACT

Psychologists have studied love relationship using various questionnaires assessing behaviors and quality of relationship. Pathological love (PL) consists of repetitive and uncontrolled behavior of caring for the partner in a romantic relationship. Previous studies have shown that individuals with PL are different from healthy volunteers because they have high impulsivity and selftranscendence, unsatisfactory and compulsive love relationships, predominance of mania and agape love styles, and anxious-ambivalent attachment. Because there are no instruments that specifically measure this kind of behavior, the objective of the present study was to develop a scale to assess PL and to analyze its psychometric properties. This case-control study was conducted in two parts. During the 1st part, the scores of 154 patients (79 with PL and 75 healthy volunteers) were compared considering the characteristics mentioned above. These characteristics were determined based on the administration of 137 items of questionnaires used to measure each one of the characteristics alone. Exploratory factor analysis reduced the 67 original items that differentiated the samples to 26 items. Thus, the primary factor structure included 5 factors: Control (13 items), Dissatisfaction (4 items), Impulsivity (2 items), Abnegation (4 items), and Idealization (3 items). These items showed good internal consistency (alfa.74; CI=.72-.76; p =<. 001). Some items were adapted, 4 new items were created, and then the pilot model of the Love Scale (LS) was created including 30 items. In the 2nd part of the study, 320 individuals (20 with PL, 28 without PL, and 272 with unknown status for PL) completed this pilot scale. Factor analysis was used again, and the final model of the LS was built including 22 items divided into 4 factors: Control (10 items), Dissatisfaction (5 items), Abnegation (5 items), and Idealization (2 items)...
