RESUMO
O artigo descreve o conceito de dislexia do desenvolvimento como resultante da interação entre fatores biológicos (genéticos e neurológicos), cognitivos e ambientais. São abordadas as principais teorias cognitivas explicativas da dislexia e suas implicações em termos de avaliação e intervenção. Questões teóricas relativas a avaliação e instrumentos disponíveis para uso são apresentadas, assim como propostas de intervenção tanto remediativa quanto preventiva. Alguns sinais qualitativos são descritos para servir como referência a pais e professores, e sugestões para lidar com o aluno com dislexia são fornecidas...
ABSTRACT
The paper describes the concept of developmental dyslexia as a result of the interaction among biological (genetic and neurological), cognitive and environmental factors. The major theories about dyslexia are described, and their consequences in terms of assessment and intervention. Theoretical issues concerning the evaluation and available tests are presented, as well as intervention programs for prevention and remediation. Some signals of dyslexia are described in order to help parents and teacher, and some suggestions for dealing with dyslexic student are provided...
