ABSTRACT
Classically, the infection is attributed as a major cause of death in burns. However, other parameters are also closely related to mortality. The burnedbody surface area (BSA), the depth of the burn, advanced age, smokeinhalation, the regime of fluid replacement, the temporality of surgicalprocedures as well as the rational use of antimicrobial exemplify the mainparameters. This article aims to briefly discuss this set of causal factors relatedto the reduction of mortality in burned patients.
