ABSTRACT
The theory of the mind, which investigates the knowledge children develop about the mind, including emotions, intentions, desires and beliefs, presents itself as a promissory and productive area of research. This sociocognitive capacity is highlighted as fundamental for the insertion of the children in the social world and for a good scholar performance as the school is being highlighted as a facilitator and stimulator context for the development of the comprehension of mental states. This study, of a theoretical nature, discusses fundaments referring to the theory of the mind and its possible relationships to the infants education. The aim was the awareness of educators about the importance of operating like mediators in this process and to present possible strategies of promotion of their development in the scholar context, such as mediated reading, attribution of mental states during linguistic exchanges, as well as the incentive of activities that involve pretend play.
