Absenteísmo no trabalho: sintoma ou doença? / Absenteeism on work: symptom or disease?

RESUMO

Desenvolveu-se uma breve revisão sobre o tema absenteísmo, objetivando-se subsidiar a formação do conhecimento em saúde do trabalhador. Trata-se de um tema complexo, permea- do por conflitos, objeto de uma visão que, historicamente, subsidia as empresas no controle das ausências dos trabalhadores ao trabalho. Apresenta-se a descrição do absenteísmo segundo a visão de alguns autores e da Organização Internacional do Trabalho. Conclui-se que há dificuldades em se tratar o tema sob a ótica da saúde do trabalhador e que o denominador comum em todos os autores pesquisados, mesmo naqueles em que a saúde ocupacional é mais patente, é que o absenteísmo descrito é apenas a ponta do iceberg; muito mais está oculto e há que ser mostrado. Ele deve ser visto como um sintoma e não como a doença. É a relação homem / trabalho / sociedade que está doente e, como tal, deve ser avaliada e abordada.

ABSTRACT

A brief review on absenteeism was developed, with the aim of assisting i n the formation of knowledge on the workers' health. It is a cornplex theme, permeated by conflicts. Ir is the object of a view that historically assists companies in the control of the absences frorn work on the workers parto A description of absenteeism as seen by some authors and by International Labour Organization is presented, leading to the conclusion that ir is difficult to treat the therne under the worker's health point of view, and that rhe common denomina- tor in all the authors researched is that, even for those who have rhe occupational health as rhe main stream, the absenteeism described is jusr the top of rhe iceberg, i.e., there is much more hidden that must come to sur- face. It should be seen as a symptom rather than an ill- ness. Ir is the relation man/work/society that is sick and as such it must be evaluated and approached.
