RESUMO
O artigo circunscreve a posição de Lacan diante do que Freud considerou o limite das análises dos neuróticos o rochedo da castração. Examina as vertentes da angústia delimitadas por Freud nas chamadas neuroses de angústia, na relação estabelecida entre angústia e desejo recalcado e, por último, na inflexão formalizada pelo artigo Inibição, sintoma e angústia. A seguir, aponta como Lacan problematiza o vínculo deixado por Freud entre angústia e ameaça de castração. Ao conceber a angústia como o sinal de um objeto elidido do campo do sujeito, Lacan precisa o ponto a ser atravessado pelos neuróticos em análise...
ABSTRACT
The article discusses Lacan´s views on what Freud considered the ultimate block of psycho

analysis:

the castration anxiety , considered as the bedrock[Felsen] on which every treatment must necessarily fail and where theorymeets its limit. In order to do so, it approaches Freud´s distinct conceptionsof anxiety – the early one, in which anxiety is related to the neurosis ofanxiety, which connects anxiety and repression, and finally the turning pointput forward by the article Inhibition, Symptom, and Anxiety. Through thatexam, the paper tries to reach the heart of Lacan´s contributions, that allowpsychoanalysis to go beyond the freudian positions that established a direct link between anxiety and the threat of castration. Conceiving anxiety as the sign, not of castration, but rather, of the imminency of an object eludedfrom the subject´s field, Lacan is able to point out what is really at stake forthe subject facing anxiety in analysis...
