RESUMO

O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar as contribuições que as pesquisas evolucionistas oriundas da Etologia e da Psicologia Evolucionista podem trazer para a Gerontologia. Por esta perspectiva, o comportamento humano pode ser entendido à luz da Seleção Natural. Portanto, é de extrema relevância considerar como era o ambiente e a sociedade dos humanos ao longo da sua evolução. Essa compreensão pode iluminar o conhecimento a respeito do funcionamento da mente e das sociedades humanas e ajudar a criar um ambiente moderno mais próximo àquele que nossos ancestrais viviam. ABSTRACT

This paper presents the contributions that researches from Ethology and Evolutive Psychology can bring to Gerontology. From this perspective, human behavior may be understood under the light of Natural Selection. Thus, it is extremely important to consider how society and environment during human evolution were. This comprehension may facilitate the knowledge about how the mind and human society work, and may help to build a modern environment more similar to that of our ancestors.
