Multdisciplinaridade e inovação metodológica na dinâmica de atuação do comitê de juízes na adaptação de instrumentos: Diabetes Empowerment Scale-Short Form (DES-SF) / Multdisciplinary and methological innovation in the dynamics of judges committee action in instrumenths adaptation: Diabetes Empowerment Scale-Short Form (DES-SF)

RESUMO

Para avaliar os efeitos da abordagem educativa em usuários com diabetes, é fundamental a utilização de instrumentos adequados. Entre os instrumentos disponíveis na literatura está o “Diabetes Empowerment Scale -Short Form (DES -SF)”. O DES -SF, como a maioria dos instrumentos, foi concebido e desenvolvido em inglês e, consequentemente, foi preciso submetê-lo às regras internacionais de tradução e adaptação cultural para o português brasileiro. A quarta fase do processo de adaptação cultural, o comitê de juízes, é a descrita neste estudo. Nela, os especialistas são convidados a revisar todas as versões elaboradas e registrar as discussões e as decisões tomadas, com a finalidade de garantir as equivalências semântica, idiomática, cultural e conceitual do instrumento, além do cuidado específico com as instruções de preenchimento e aparência. Este estudo teve como objetivo descrever uma proposta multidisciplinar e inovadora para a dinâmica de atuação do comitê de juízes na adaptação de instrumentos implementada na tradução do Diabetes Empowerment Scale-Short Form. Foram realizados encontros multidisciplinares para a adaptação do DES-SF, originalmente no inglês, para o português brasileiro. A etapa seguinte foi a utilização da ferramenta on-line e-surv (esurv.org) para implementação de consulta ao comitê de juízes. As respostas foram encaminhadas automaticamente ao banco de dados do e-surv que, posteriormente, foi utilizado na análise dos dados. As pesquisadoras discutiram todos os questionamentos e sugestões levantadas pelos juízes até que se chegasse a consenso sobre a tradução de palavra(s) ou termo(s). As discussões eram orientadas para a escolha da opção mais apropriada, ou seja, que conservasse o significado expresso no instrumento original sem comprometer a compreensão, pela população, sobre a que o instrumento se destinará...

ABSTRACT

To assess the effects of educational approach in users with diabetes, the use of appropriate tools is key. Among the instruments available in the literature is the "Diabetes Empowerment Scale-Short Form (SF-DES)." The DES-SF, as most of the instruments, was designed and developed in English and therefore had to submit it to the international rules of translation and cultural adaptation to Brazilian Portuguese. The fourth phase of the adaptation process, the committee of judges, is described in this study. In it, experts are invited to review all the elaborate versions and record the discussions and decisions taken, in order to ensure the semantic, idiomatic, cultural and conceptual instrument, besides the specific care with the fill and appearance instructions. This study aimed to describe a multidisciplinary and innovative approach to the dynamics of expert committee's role in the adaptation of instruments implemented in the translation of the Diabetes Empowerment Scale-Short Form. Multidisciplinary meetings were held to adapt the DES-SF, originally in English to Brazilian Portuguese. The next step was to use the online tool e-surv (esurv.org) for implementation of consulting the expert committee. The responses were automatically sent to the e-surv database that was later used in the data analysis. The researchers discussed all questions and suggestions raised by the judges until they reached a consensus on the word translation (s) or term (s). The discussions were guided in choosing the most appropriate option, namely that retain the meaning expressed in the original instrument without compromising the understanding by population, on which the instrument will be dedicated.
