RESUMO
A cobertura e a quantidade de consultas pré-natal têm aumentado no Brasil. Porém, uma baixa adequação do cuidado persiste e há associação negativa com pessoas em condições sociodemográficas desfavoráveis. O objetivo desta tese foi analisar as desigualdades sociais e geográficas no desempenho e na adequação da assistência médico-odontológica pré-natal no Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) da Região Metropolitana da Grande Vitória, Espírito Santo, Brasil. Trata-se de um estudo quanti-qualitativo, que, inicialmente realizou um estudo seccional, com 1209 puérperas residentes na região, internadas em estabelecimentos do SUS para o parto, entre abril de 2010 e fevereiro de 2011. Foram coletadas informações sobre a assistência médica-odontológica pré-natal, o impacto da saúde bucal na qualidade de vida da gestante e características sociais maternas, além de informações sociais e sobre a organização local dos serviços de saúde, fornecidas pelas Secretarias Municipais de Saúde...
ABSTRACT
The coverage and number of pre-natal consultations has been increasing in Brazil. However, there is still a low adequacy of care and a negative association with people in unfavorable sociodemographic conditions. The aim of this thesis was to analyze the social and geographical inequalities in the performance and adequacy of medical and dental prenatal care in the Brazilian Public Health System (SUS) at the Metropolitan Region of Vitória, Espírito Santo, Brazil. This is a quantitative and qualitative study, which was initiated by a cross-sectional study on 1,209 mothers living in this region, admitted to SUS facilities for delivery between April 2010 and February 2011.
