Intervención educativa sobre infecciones de transmisión sexual en adolescentes / Educative intervention on sexually transmitted infections in teenagers

RESUMEN

Se realizó una intervención educativa, con el objetivo de incrementar los conocimientos sobre las infecciones de transmisión sexual en adolescentes de la enseñanza media superior del Consejo Popular Oeste del municipio Colón, con la participación de estudiantes de tercer año de la carrera Medicina de la Filial de Ciencias Médicas Dr. Eusebio Hernández Pérez, en el período comprendido desde marzo del 2014 a marzo del 2015. Se aplicaron instrumentos como encuesta y entrevista grupal que permitieron constatar la existencia de limitaciones y dificultades que significan vulnerabilidades para la prevención de estas infecciones como el escaso uso del condón, las prácticas sexuales que mantienen y que constituyen comportamientos irresponsables, indicadores que demuestran la baja percepción del riesgo que tiene esta población. La intervención educativa que se puso en práctica, demostró su pertinencia pues evidenció profundización en el conocimiento de los adolescentes sobre las infecciones de transmisión sexual.

ABSTRACT

An educative intervention was carried out with the aim of increasing knowledge on the sexually transmitted infections in senior high school teenagers of the West Popular Council of Colon municipality, with the participation of third course students of the Medicine career of the Medical Sciences Branch “Dr. Eusebio Hernandez Perez”, in the period from March 2014 to March 2015. Several tools, as inquiry and group interviews, were applied, allowing to prove the existence of limitations and difficulties meaning vulnerabilities for these infections prevention as the scarcely use of condoms and certain sexual practices performed by them, that are an irresponsible behavior, indicators showing the low risk perception this population has. The performed educative intervention showed its pertinence because it evidenced the deepening of teenagers´ knowledge on sexually transmitted infections.
