RESUMO
A morte é um tabu, mesmo na velhice este assunto é evitado. A maioria das Instituições de Longa Permanência para Idosos (ILPIs) preocupa-se mais com cuidados biomédicos do que tratar os idosos como sujeitos de direito e desejo. Encontrando pouco amparo e espaço de interlocução para se lidar com perdas, a saúde mental e a qualidade de vida podem ficar prejudicadas. A reflexão sobre a educação para a morte se faz necessária para se viver uma vida com mais sentido e um envelhecimento com mais dignidade...

Death is seen as a taboo, even during old age the subject is avoided. Most Long-Term Care Institutions for Elderlyare more concerned with biomedical, then elderlys rights and desires. Finding little support and space to deal with loss, their mental health and quality of life may be impaired.Thinking about education for death is necessary to live a meaningful life and age with dignity...
