Pode-se compreender engagement no trabalho como estado psicológico positivo relacionado com o mundo laboral, que se caracteriza por três dimensões: vigor, dedicação e absorção. O presente estudo teve o objetivo de avaliar os índices do referido constructo em profissionais do transporte coletivo. Nesta pesquisa foi utilizado o Utrecht Work Engagement Scale, instrumento mais utilizado mundialmente com esta finalidade, composto por 17 itens, com escala tipo likert de 7 pontos. A amostra contou com 212 profissionais. Os resultados apontaram predomínio da dimensão absorção 39,15% (N=83) em nível médio, seguido de dedicação 33,02%(N=70) em nível médio e vigor 32,08% (N=68) em nível alto. De forma geral, 34,43% (N=73) da amostra apresentou níveis altos de engagement no trabalho. No Brasil são poucos os estudos acerca de trabalhadores de transporte coletivo, com quantidade inferior quando se trata de engagement no trabalho. Assim sendo, são necessárias mais investigações para obter uma maior capacidade de generalização de padrões encontrados.
ABSTRACT
Work engagement is as a positive cognitive state of realization, related with the labor environment, which is characterized by three dimensions: vigor, dedication and absorption. The objective of the present study is to evaluate the construct levels in professionals of mass transportation It was utilized the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale, composed by 17 items and a 7 points likert scale, in a 212 workers sample. The results pointed the predominance of the Absorption dimension 39,15% (N=83) in a medium level, followed by Dedication 33,02% (N=70) in a medium level and Vigor 32,08% (N=68) in a high level. In a general way, 34,43% (N=73) of the sample has presented high levels of work engagement. In Brazil, there are few studies about public urban transportation workers, still, lower quantity is found considering work engagement as well. Therefore it is necessary furthers investigations to obtain a greater generalization capacity of the patterns found at this study.
