RESUMO
O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar os efeitos de um programa de exercícios aquáticos resistidos (PEAR) na pressão arterial e medidas antropométricas de mulheres hipertensas. Foi avaliado um grupo de 20 mulheres hipertensas, com média de idade 69,2 ± 5,5 anos. As aferições da pressão arterial e medidas antropométricas foram realizadas uma semana antes de iniciar o programa de exercícios aquáticos e após o término da décima segunda semana de intervenção. Conclui-se que o PEAR promoveu reduções na pressão arterial e na maioria das medidas antropométricas estudadas, além de ser uma estratégia de promoção da saúde desta faixa etária, visando à manutenção da independência e autonomia.
ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of an aquatic resistive exercise program (PEAR) on blood pressure and anthropometric measurements of hypertensive women. We evaluated a group of 20 hypertensive women, mean age 69.2 ± 5.5 years. Measurements of blood pressure and anthropometric measurements were performed one week before starting the program of water exercises and after the twelfth week of intervention. We conclude that the EAR promoted reductions in blood pressure and anthropometric measurements in most studied and is a strategy to promote health in this age group, in order to maintain the independence and autonomy.
