Valoración de los criterios referentes al rendimiento académico y variables que lo puedan afectar / Assessment of the criteria referred to academic performance and variables that may influence them

RESUMEN

Existen muchas investigaciones sobre el rendimiento académico realizadas con distintos enfoques y diferentes variables que influyen en el mismo. Su concepto comprende la influencia de factores sociales como educacionales, en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje como forma de realización de los objetivos educativos de determinada institución escolar. El rendimiento no puede ser analizado con independencia de las condiciones históricas y sociales que determinan su instrumentación y ejecución. Se realizó una investigación que tuvo como propósito valorar los criterios referentes al rendimiento académico y variables que lo puedan afectar, según autores consultados. Para realizar la actualización bibliográfica se desarrolló una búsqueda en la Biblioteca Virtual de Salud de Infomed en las bases de datos Medline Complete, Pubmed Central, Hinari, Scielo regional y Scielo Cuba, abarcando los meses de enero 2010 y noviembre 2014, y quedó restringida para los últimos 11 años (2003). Se concluyó que se debe valorar el rendimiento académico como la vinculación de los factores sociales, psicológicos y educacionales, que influyen en el desarrollo de conocimientos, actitudes, hábitos, habilidades, capacidades, intereses, motivación y expectativas de los estudiantes para su desarrollo individual y del entorno en el que se desenvuelven, y las variables que lo puedan afectar son las psicosociales, académicas, económicas, familiares, personales y las institucionales.

ABSTRACT

There are many researches on the academic performance carried out from dissimilar points of view, and different variables influencing it. The concept includes the influence of both, social and educational factors, on the teaching-learning process as a form of achieving the educative goals of a certain educative institution. Performance could not be analyzed independently of the social and historical conditions determining its instrumentation and execution. A research was carried out aimed to evaluate criteria referred to academic performance and variables that may influence it, according to consulted authors. To carry out the bibliographic update, a search was made in the Virtual Health Library of Infomed in the following databases: Medline Complete, Pubmed central, Hinari, Scielo regional and Scielo Cuba, covering months from January 2010 to November 2014, and restricted for the last 11 years (2003). It was concluded that academic performance should be evaluated as the bond of social, psychological and educational factors influencing the development of the students´ knowledge, attitudes, habits, skills, capacities, concerns, motivation and expectations for the individual development and the development of the settings where they perform; and the variables affecting performance are the psychosocial ones, the academic ones, the economic ones, the family ones, the personal ones and the institutional ones.
