Portadores de doença renal crônica em fase produtiva: percepção sobrelimitações resultantes do adoecimento / Patients with chronic kidney disease in productive phase:perception of limitations resulting from illness

RESUMO

Introdução: a doença renal crônica-DRC gera limitações de ordem física, social e emocional, com sérias repercussões na vida do paciente. Muitos passam a viver em função do tratamento e se abstêm de uma vida ativa e funcional. Entretanto, as práticas profissionais de atenção estão centradas nos aspectos clínicos da doença e pouco consideram a experiência de adoecimento dos pacientes. Objetivo: compreender apercepção de portadores de DRC em fase produtiva quanto às limitações resultantes do adoecimento. Métodos: estudo qualitativo realizado de janeiro a julho de 2010. Foram entrevistadas nove pessoas em fase produtiva, em tratamento dialítico no HUUF-MA. Para amostra, utilizou-se critério de saturação e as entrevistas foram analisadas segundo a análise temática. Resultados: constituíram as unidades temáticas desteestudo ter doença renal crônica ? percepção sobre as limitações da doença renal; a peregrinação ? em busca do diagnóstico; e uma nova organização familiar. A vivência do doente renal crônico se dá no universo da doença e do tratamento e grande parte deles entende a DRC a partir de elementos negativos, provavelmente devido à incorporaçãodas características restritivas do tratamento dialítico, apesar de outros vivenciarem essa experiência com a percepção de alguns ganhos. Conclusão: a DRC impõe a ressignificação do tempo e inaugura novo modo de vida. É necessário repensar ações a fim de auxiliar a adaptação dos pacientes a essa nova condição.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: chronic kidney disease-DRC generates physical, social, and emotional constraints with serious repercussions on the patient?s life. Many have their lives limited to the treatment and refrain from an active and functional life. However, professional practices of assistance are focused on the clinical aspects of the disease, and some consider the patients? experience with the illness. Objective: to understand the perceptionof DRC carriers in their productive phase about the limitations resulting from the illness. Methods: this was a qualitative study conducted from January to July of 2010. We interviewed nine people in their productive stage and on dialysis treatment in the HUUF-MA. The saturation criterion was used for samples and interviews were analyzed using the thematic analysis. Results: the thematic units in this study were to have chronic kidneydisease - perceptions about the limitations of kidney disease; pilgrimage - in search of diagnosis; and a new family organization. The experience of the chronic kidney disease patient occurs in the disease universe and treatment. Most of them understand the DRC from negative elements, probably due to the incorporation of the restrictive features ofdialysis, while others experience this with the perception of some gains. Conclusion: DRC requires the redefinition of time and opens a newway of life. It is necessary to rethink actions to assist the adaptation of patients to this new condition
