RESUMEN
Se realizó un estudio observacional, descriptivo y transversal en algunas unidades de salud (10 hospitales, 10 policlínicos, el Hogar de Ancianos "América Labadí Arce", los centros municipal y provincial de Higiene y Epidemiología y la Clínica Estomatológica Provincial Docente "Mártires del Moncada") del municipio de Santiago de Cuba, seleccionadas mediante un muestreo intencional, de abril a junio del 2014, con vistas a caracterizar la aplicación de la mercadotecnia social en estas. Para la recolección de los datos se diseñaron 4 instrumentos: 2 de autodiagnóstico y 2 guías de observación relacionadas con el enfoque de la mercadotecnia en instituciones y programas de salud. El análisis de las variables estudiadas demostró que era insuficiente el empleo de la mercadotecnia social como herramienta de gestión sanitaria en el desempeño profesional, de manera que propicie el bienestar de usuarios y prestadores en función de la salud pública.
ABSTRACT
An observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out in some health units (10 hospitals, 10 polyclinics, "America Labadí Arce" home for the aged, Hygiene and Epidemiology municipal and provincial centers and "Mártires del Moncada" Teaching Provincial Stomatological Clinic) in Santiago de Cuba, selected by means of an intentional sampling, from April to June, 2014, aiming at characterizing the implementation of social marketing in these units. Four instruments were designed to gather information: 2 of self-diagnosis and 2 observation guides related to the marketing approach in health institutions and programs. The analysis of the studied variables demonstrated that the use of the social marketing as tool of health management in the professional performance was insufficient, so that it propitiates the well-being of users and people of service towards public health.
