Relacionamento conjugal e violência: sair é mais difícil que ficar? / Marital relation and violence: is leaving harder than staying?

RESUMO

A violência conjugal demanda ser amplamente estudada, pois possui altas taxas de incidência e pode causar sérios problemas de saúde aos envolvidos. Por esse motivo, o objetivo desse estudo foi analisar a história conjugal de um casal heterossexual, considerando as diferentes formas de violência praticada pelos cônjuges. Foi realizado um estudo qualitativo, com delineamento de estudo de caso único. Os instrumentos utilizados foram genograma, entrevista semiestruturada e Revised Conflict Tactics Scale (CTS-2). Os resultados revelaram que o casal apresentou agressão psicológica, preponderantemente exercida pela esposa, e coerção sexual, exercida pelo marido,além de uma repetição dos padrões de violência praticados em suas famílias de origem. Os cônjuges consideraram que sair dessa relação era mais difícil do que permanecer, devido a questões financeiras, filhos e até mesmo o medo de recomeçar. Revela-se a necessidade de atenção dos profissionais para a avaliação dos motivos que mantém unidos casais em situação de violência.(AU)

ABSTRACT

Intimate partner violence demands to be widely studied since its incidence levels are high and it may cause serious health problems to those involved. This study aims to analyze the marital history of a heterosexual couple, considering the different forms of violence employed by both spouses. A qualitative study, with single case study design was developed. Instruments used were a genogram, a semi-structured interview, and the Revised Conflict Tactics Scale (CTS-2). The data showed the couple presented psychological aggression mainly practiced by the wife, and sexual coercion by the husband, alongside a repetition of the violence patterns practiced in their families of origin. The spouses considered that leaving the relationship is harder than staying, on account of financial issues, children, and even the fear of recommencing. It reveals the need of professional attention for the evaluation of reasons that maintain couples in situations of violence.(AU)
