Automedicación odontológica de pacientes que acuden a una institución pública y privada, Lima-Perú / Dental self-medication of patients attending a public or private institution, Lima-Perú

RESUMEN

Determinar la frecuencia de automedicación en pacientes que acuden al servicio de odontología en una institución pública y privada, pertenecientes al distrito de San Martin de Porres de la ciudad de Lima en el período del 2012 - 2013. Material y métodos: Estudio de tipo observacional, transversal y comparativo. La población estuvo conformada por pacientes que se atienden en el servicio de Odontología de una institución pública (Hospital Nacional Cayetano Heredia) y una institución Privada (Clínica Estomatológica Dental de la UPCH) Lima û Perú. Se calculó el tamaño de muestra, se encuestó en el hospital 202 pacientes, y en la clínica a 253 pacientes. Se aplicó la encuesta a los pacientes del servicio de odontología de ambas instituciones, las cuales fueron entregadas en las salas de espera de cada institución, previa firma del consentimiento informado. Resultados: Los resultados muestran que se encontró un total de 202 pacientes que acudieron al ôHospital Nacional Cayetano Herediaõ, los cuales fueron pacientes mayores de 18 años, en donde el 18.32% de los pacientes dijeron que no se automedicaban y el 81.68 % de los pacientes dijeron que si se automedicaban. En la institución privada se encontró un total de 253 pacientes que acudieron a la ôClínica Dental Cayetano Herediaõ, los cuales fueron pacientes mayores de 18 años, en donde el 37.55 % dijeron que no se automedicaban y el 62.45 % de los pacientes dijeron que si se automedicaban. Conclusiones: Existe diferencias estadísticamente significativas entre automedicación, persona quien recomienda la medicación, forma farmacéutica y tipo de dolencia en ambas instituciones...

ABSTRACT

To determine the frequency of self-medication in patients attending the dental service at a public or private institution, belonging to the district of San Martin de Porres of Lima in the period of 2012-2013. Materials and Methods: It was an observational study type, transversal and comparative. The population consisted of all patients seen in the service of Dentistry of a public institution (Hospital Nacional Cayetano Heredia) and a private institution (Dental Clinic Dental Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia) Lima, Peru. The sample size was calculated, which surveyed 202 patients in hospital, clinic and 253 patients were surveyed. Patients who attended the dental service of both institutions the survey, questionnaires were given to the patients in the waiting rooms of each institution, after signing the informed consent.
