RESUMO

O desenvolvimento motor é a contínua alteração nocomportamento motor ao longo do ciclo da vida, e não pode serdefinido em termos absolutos. No desenvolvimento infantil, os primeirosanos de vida são cruciais para a aquisição de conhecimentose habilidades, por isso é importante promover o desenvolvimentoinfantil nas creches. Objetivo: Avaliar a função neuropsicomotora decrianças institucionalizadas em uma creche municipal de Teresina/PI, utilizando o Teste de Denver II para uma avaliação adequada.Material e métodos: A pesquisa foi de natureza descritiva e transversal.Foram avaliadas 39 crianças regularmente matriculadas na CrecheMunicipal Ladeira do Uruguai utilizando o Teste de Denver II. Resultados:Verificou-se que 92,3% do total de 39 crianças avaliadas comDenver II foram classificadas como normais, e 7,7% apresentaramdéficit na realização das tarefas propostas, de acordo com os quatrodomínios do teste. Conclusão: Este estudo mostrou que 92,3% dascrianças avaliadas tiveram bom desempenho nas tarefas propostassegundo o Teste de Denver II. ABSTRACT

The motor development is the continuous changein motor behavior throughout the life cycle, and cannot be definedin absolute terms. As regards to child development, the first yearof life is crucial for the acquisition of knowledge and skills, so it isimportant to promote child development in childcare. Objective: Toevaluate neuropsychomotor development of institutionalized childrenin a municipal daycare center of Teresina/PI using the DenverII Test for an adequate evaluation. Material and methods: This wasa descriptive and transversal study. Thirty nine children regularlyenrolled in the municipal daycare center “Creche Municipal Ladeirado Uruguai” were evaluated. Results: We observed that 92.3% out of39 children assessed with Denver II were classified as normal, and7.7% showed deficit to perform tasks that they have been asked todo according to the four domains of the test. Conclusion: This studyshowed that 92.3% of the children performed well the tasks askedto do according to the Denver II test.
