RESUMO
O objetivo deste estudo foi descrever o perfilepidemiológico dos pacientes com cardiopatias congênitassubmetidos à cirurgia no hospital do coração. Material e

Métodos:

Foi realizado um estudo transversal, descritivo eexploratório, com análise quantitativa a partir de prontuáriosde pacientes menores de 18 anos de idade, portadores decardiopatias congênitas, operados no período 01 de agostode 2005 a 31 de julho de 2010.

Resultados:

Dos 300 pacientesportadores de cardiopatia congênita operados naqueleperíodo, 69,7% (209) foram do tipo acianóticas, e entre estasa mais frequente foi a comunicação interventricular com 21%(63). Entre as cianóticas, a tetralogia de Fallot foi de 14%(42). As cianóticas evoluíram para óbito em 82,7% (24) doscasos, enquanto as acianóticas em 17,3% (5).

Conclusão:

Os achados apontaram que o perfil dos pacientes comcardiopatias congênitas foi de lactentes, pré-escolares eescolares, sem predomínio de gênero. Ocorreu predomíniodas cardiopatias congênitas acianóticas, sendo que, amaioria do número de óbitos estava entre as cardiopatiascianóticas...

Methods:

We conducted a crosssectional,descriptive and exploratory study, with quantitativeanalysis from medical records of patients less than 18 yearsof age with congenital heart disease, treated between August1st 2005 to July 31st 2010.

Results:

Of the 300 patients withoperated congenital heart disease during that period, 69.7%(209) were of acyanotic type; of these, the most frequenttype was the ventricular septal defect accounting for 21%(63) of the cases. Among the cyanotic heart defects, tetralogyof Fallot was found in 14% (42) of the patients. The cyanoticand acyanotic defects evolved to death in 82.7% (24) and17.3% (5) of the cases, respectively.

Conclusion:

Thefindings indicated that the profile of patients with congenitalheart disease was composed by infants, preschoolers andschoolchildren, without gender dominance. There was apredominance of acyanotic congenital heart defects, andmost deaths were related to cyanotic heart diseases...
