ABSTRACT
Goniometry is a method widely used at physical therapy clinicsand, nowadays, with the advent of technology, digital photogrammetryhas been also considered as an alternative to the quantitativeassessment of asymmetries in postural assessment. Th erefore, thepurpose of this study was to analyze and compare bilateral quadricepsangle by manual goniometry and photogrammetry. Twentyeight individuals were measured by a single observer in the standingposition and supine position. To carry out digital images, the anatomicalpoints were marked with white circular patch of 0.9 mmin diameter and then images are taken. Th e images obtained wereanalyzed through the ALCimagem-2000 Version 1.5 software. Forcomparison, we applied the correlation coeffi cient of Spearman, withsignifi cance level (p ≤ 0.01). Th e results showed that goniometryperformed in the supine position had no relation with the goniometryperformed in the standing position. In the comparison withgoniometry and photogrammetry in the standing position, the twomethods were compatible. We concluded that the two methods arecompatible and when the goniometry is performed, position andhow it was made should be informed...
