ABSTRACT
The aim of this paper is to establish relations between Sõren Kierkegaards thought and GestaltTherapy, taking the notion of anguish as its reference. Anguish is understood as an essentially human phenomenon that reveals the person in their relation with the world. Gestalt-Therapys comprehensionof the human being is compatible with the ones presented by the Philosophies of Existence, which implies a return to the lived experience. Therefore, it is here taken as a psychotherapeutic approach in which anguish may be understood in its complexity, in a relational view. Some of Kierkegaardsnotions are related to Gestalt-Therapys proposition of psychotherapy, both where they converge and/or diverge. Due to the scarce specific literature on anguish in Gestalt-Therapy, it is this works task to foment the discussion about the understanding and coping with anguish in this psychotherapeutic approach, as well as to contribute to the perspective of giving philosophicalfoundation to Gestalt-Therapy, under the ground of Philosophies of Existence.
