Article in English | IMSEAR | ID: sea-137776
ABSTRACT
The incidence of Martin-Gruber anastomosis was studied by electrodiagnosis among 66 normal medical students, ages ranged between 18 to 22 years, 31 females and 35 males. The median and ulnar nerves were stimulated at the elbow and wrist. The compound muscle action potentials were recorded with surface electrodes over the thenar, hypothenar and first dorsal interosseous muscles. Findings indicative of this cross-over were seen in 13 subject (19.7%), 18 limbs (13.6%). The crossing fibers were detected over the first dorsal interosseous area in all 18 limbs with Martin-Gruber anastmosis, the hypothenar 3 limbs (17%) and the thenar 0 limbs. The incidence was relatively closed to the others by electrodiagnoss as well as anatomical findings.
