Quantitative analysis of prednisolone and dexamethasone in modified herbal drugs.

ABSTRACT

Quantitative analysis of prednisolone and dexamethasone in modified herbal drugs were performed by using thin layer chromatography in comparison to coloimetric method. From all 126 samples collected, 36 samples prednisolone was found, dexamethasone in 10 samples and both steroids were found in another 11 samples. These modified herbal drugs were mainly used for the treatment of asthma and pain relief in arthritis; others were used for skin disease, cancer and appetite stimulant.
