Introduction:

Manysurgicalandnon‐surgicaltreatmentmodalitiesareavailableformanagementofhemorrhoidsofwhichHaemorrhoidectomyisregardedasthegoldstandardoftreatment.ConventionalopenHaemorrhoidectomyiswidelyperformed&hasstoodthetestoftime.StapledHaemorrhoidectomyisnewerprocedureinthemanagementofhaemorrhoids.Ourstudyaimstocomparethetwosurgicalmodalitiesinrelationtothetechnique&timedurationofsurgery,post‐operativestay&complications.

Methods:

AprospectiverandomizedstudywasconductedatAMCMETMMC&LGhospitalsAhmedabadbetween1stJanuary2016&1stSept2016.Allpatientspresentingwith3rddegreehaemorrhoidswererandomizedbetweenOpen&StapledHaemorrhoidectomygroups&comparedwithrelationtomeanoperativetiming,complicationspostoperativelynamelyhemorrhage,urinaryretention&post‐operativepain,durationofhospitalstay,durationforresumingnormalworkafterdischarge.Allcaseswerethoroughlystudiedandfollowedupforperiodof3months.Datawasassessedbymulti‐variationanalysisbypairedTtest&Wilcoxonanalysis.
