ABSTRACT
Epidural anesthesia for labour is good for relieving labour pain. There were 43 per cent spontaneous deliveries, 33.6 per cent forceps extractions, 13.1 per cent vacuum extractions and 10.3 per cent cesarean sections. Total amount of anesthetic solution varied between 16 to 29 ml and anesthetic levels were T10, T9 and T8. The majority of the infants had apgar score 9 or 10 in the first minute of life. There were minor complications such as backache, urinary retention and hypotension which were treatable without permanent sequalae.
